About the Artist in Residence Science Program

The Artist in Residence Science program is a Queensland Government program, managed by the Department of Environment and Science’s Science Division, in consultation with Arts Queensland. The program supports creative collaborative residencies between professional artists and creative practitioners with scientists and the diverse science networks, researchers, data and infrastructure.

Program aims

This program promotes the role and value of arts and science as key drivers of discovery and growth across Queensland by nurturing our collective and creative intelligence as we work to understand the environmental challenges facing Queensland.

The 2017-2018 Artist in Residence Science residency

The 2017-2018 Artist in Residence is a 6.5 month voluntary residency based at 2 locations: the Ecosciences Precinct—Dutton Park and the Queensland Government Hydraulics Laboratory—Deagon.

The 2016 Artist in Residence Science residency

Four artists were selected for the 2016 Artist in Residence residency, culminating in the 2016 Art meets Science Exhibition.

The 2015 Artist in Residence Science residency

The 2015 Artist in Residence Science residency resulted in the selection of a collective of artists and the 2015 Art-meets-Science Exhibition.
