How artists are selected - criteria

  • Artworks need to demonstrate a strong art–science nexus relating to Queensland's natural or production landscapes or other natural resources.
  • Artworks may be in any media suitable for the available space as assessed by the selection panel.
  • Exhibition of the artworks is freely provided by the artists. No funds are available for artists to:
    • deliver or collect their artworks
    • package or courier their artworks
    • mount or otherwise prepare the artworks for exhibition
    • exhibit their artworks
    • participate in events.
  • Selected artists must complete the: Artist agreement and indemnity (PDF, 460K) accepting all risk from exhibiting; and the Artist and artwork information (PDF, 219K) document for your works to be included in the exhibition.
  • The Artist and artwork information (PDF, 219K) includes an artist biography (up to 200 words) and some explanatory art/science text (50–200 words) and other information for incorporation in the didactic panel for each artwork by the due date.
  • All artworks must safe, suitable and appropriate for public display as assessed by the selection panel and a Workplace Health and Safety assessment.
  • The decisions of the selection panel are final.
  • In participating in the exhibition the artist/owner of the artwork gives permission to the exhibition organiser, the Queensland Government, and CSIRO to photograph or film their artwork to use and share this media with any other party via any means for reporting on the event and the promotion of future activities at the Ecosciences Precinct.
  • There will be no restrictions on staff and visitors to the exhibition on the taking of photographs or filming of the artworks and their subsequent sharing of such media by any means.
  • Artworks may be sold by direct personal contact between the artist and the buyer as a private transaction. The exhibition organiser, Queensland Government and CSIRO will have no involvement or responsibility in any such private transaction.
  • Expressions of interest closed at 5.00pm Thursday 5 July 2018.
