Sections 30 and 32 Nature Conservation Act 1992 Revocation Proposals – public notice pursuant to 173Q of the Nature Conservation Act 1992, and seeking views in consideration of Human Rights Act 2019, including Aboriginal peoples’ and Torres Straight Islander peoples’ cultural rights.

The Department of Environment and Science gives notice of the proposals to:

  • Revoke the setting apart and declaration of the entirety of Wickham Timber Reserve, described as lot 766 on FTY1420 excluding lot 766 on AP6326 (to be described as lot 766 on AP23772), containing an area of about 198 hectares, for dedication as part of the existing Plunkett Conservation Park, about 38 kilometres southeast of Brisbane.
  • Revoke the setting apart and declaration of part of Beerwah State Forest, described as lot 1 on AP22457, containing an area of about 129 hectares, for dedication as the new Mooloolah River Conservation Park, about 80 kilometres north of Brisbane.
  • Revoke the setting apart and declaration of part of Deer Reserve State Forest, described as part of lot 637 on FTY1905 (to be described as lots 1, 2 and 638 on AP23775), containing an area of about 994.9696 hectares, for dedication as the new Deer Reserve Conservation Park, about 74 kilometres northwest of Brisbane.
  • Revoke the setting apart and declaration of the entirety of West Cooroy State Forest, described as lot 234 on FTY879 (to be described as lot 234 on AP23773), for dedication as the new West Cooroy Conservation Park, containing an area of about 1,150 hectares, about 112 kilometres northwest of Brisbane.
  • Revoke the setting apart and declaration of part of Luttons State Forest, described as part of lot 766 on FTY559 (to be described as lot 1 on AP23774), for dedication as part of the existing Glass House Mountains Conservation Park, containing an area of about 61.4536 hectares, about 68 kilometres north of Brisbane.
  • Revoke the setting apart and declaration of part Mount Mee State Forest, described as part of lot 893 on FTY1883 (to be described as lot 5 on AP23776), containing an area of about 16.9031 hectares, for dedication as part of the existing D’Aguilar National Park, about 58 kilometres northwest of Brisbane.
  • Revoke the dedication of parts of Daintree National Park, described as lot 10 on SP296958 and lots 91 to 94 on W3451, containing a total area of 8.5687 hectares, about 80 kilometres northwest of Cairns.
  • Revoke the dedication of part of Kamerunga Conservation Park, described as parts of lots 254 and 734 on NR7826 (to be described as lots 100 and 101 on SP339709), containing an area of 0.821 hectares, about 11 kilometres northwest of Cairns.
  • Revoke the dedication of part of Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park, described as part of lot 1 on WD804791 (to be described as lot 2 on SP340173), containing an area of 0.0493 hectares, about 8 kilometres southeast of Gold Coast.

Comment regarding the proposed revocations to the protected area estate must be in writing and directed to tenureservices@des.qld.gov.au or the Department of Environment and Science, Tenure Services, PO Box 15187, City East, QLD, 4002.

Comments received by 25 September 2023 will be considered by the chief executive, Jamie Merrick, Director-General.

Amendments to the forestry and protected area estate under the Forestry (State Forests) Regulation 1987, Forestry Regulation 2015 and Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 are administered by the Department of Environment and Science.
