Amendments to Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Protected Areas that commenced 19 April 2019, including The Bluff, Wongi, Beerwah, Mount Stowe, Cardwell, Abergowrie, Calgoa, Alligator Creek, Werribee Creek, Murray Upper and Woondum state forests, Abbot Bay, Blackbraes, Lawn Hill (Creek), Lawn Hill (Gorge Mouth), Lawn Hill (Gregory), Lawn Hill (Gregory River Base) and Lawn Hill (Stockyard Creek) resource reserves and Blackbraes, Family Islands, Girramay, Girringun, Gulngay, Millstream Falls, Paluma Range and Tewantin national parks and Abbot Bay, Girringun and South Stradbroke Island conservation parks and Girringun, Kennedy Road Gravel, Moonstone Hill and Paluma Range resource reserves.

Subordinate Legislation giving effect to the amendments—Subordinate Legislation 2019 No.55.

Amendments to the QPWS Estate under the Forestry Regulation 2015, Forestry (State Forests) Regulation 1987, Nature Conservation (Protected Areas Management) Regulation 2017 and Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 are administered by the Department of Environment and Science.

The Bluff State Forest

Declare part of The Bluff State Forest to be a scientific area described as SA 44 on plan FSM6 containing an area of about 140 hectares.

Wongi State Forest

Bundaberg Regional Council, Fraser Coast Regional Council and North Burnett Regional Council

Declare part of Wongi State Forest to be a scientific area described as SA 60 on plan FSM64 containing an area of about 470 hectares.

Beerwah State Forest

Sunshine Coast Regional Council

Revoke parts of Beerwah State Forest described as:

  • lots 500 to 507 on SP269359 containing an area of 39.8525 hectares; and
  • lots 508 and 509 on SP278713 containing an area of 0.1348 hectares.

Resulting in new total area of 4580.6088 hectares.

Mount Stowe State Forest

Add lot 6 on plan CL4074, lots 1 and 2 on RP602532 and lot 5 on SP233611 containing an area of 371.304 hectares.

Resulting in a new total area of about 1602.704 hectares.

Cardwell State Forest

Redescribe the entirety of Cardwell State Forest as lots 1 to 7, 186 and 461 on plan AP22469, containing an area of about 8723.4617 hectares (an increase of about 93.4617 hectares).

Abergowrie State Forest

Redescribe the entirety of Abergowrie State Forest as lots 1 to 19 and 591 on plan AP22467, containing an area of about 6981.68 hectares (an increase of about 1501.88 hectares).

Calgoa State Forest

Redescribe the entirety of Calgoa State Forest as lot 632 on AP22460, containing an area of about 19.80 hectares (an increase in the area of the State forest by 4.90 hectares).

Alligator Creek State Forest

Redescribe the entirety of Alligator Creek State Forest as lot 794 on AP22459 containing an area of about 6499.24 hectares (an increase in the area of the State forest by 39.24).

Werribee Creek State Forest

Redescribe the entirety of Werribee Creek State Forest as lot 830 on AP19383 containing an area of 1857.1237 hectares (no change in area).

Murray Upper State Forest

Redescribe the entirety of Murray Upper State Forest as lots 1, 46, 113 and 861 on plan AP22470, containing an area of about 1265.459 hectares (resulting in an overall increase of about 123.459 hectares).

Woondum State Forest

Gympie Regional Council

Revoke parts of Woondum State Forest described as lots 100 to 102 on SP297908 containing an area of 24.616 hectares, resulting in a new total area of about 427.384 hectares.

Blackbraes National Park

Change the class of Blackbraes Resources Reserve described as lots 2 and 3 on AP19369, containing an area of about 755 hectares, from resources reserve to national park, combine the area with the existing Blackbraes National Park and redescribe the entirety of Blackbraes National Park as lot 38 on AP22501, containing an area of about 51,359.24 hectares (resulting in an overall decrease of about 80.76 hectares).

Family Islands National Park

Revoke part of Family Islands National Park described as lot 9 on plan CWL3549, containing an area of about 5.26 hectares. The new total area of the national park will be about 663 hectares.

Girramay National Park

Redescribe the entirety of Girramay National Park as lots 1 to 5 and 72 on AP22468 containing an area of about 29,010.9949 hectares, to allow for the renaming of about 4,751.06 hectares of Girramay National Park as the new Gulngay National Park. The area of the redescribed Girramay National Park does not equal the area subtracted for the new Gulngay National Park due to a recalculation of the area, resulting in an overall reduction of about 4,719.0051 hectares.

Girringun National Park

Redescribe the entirety of Girringun National Park, about 153 kilometres north-west of Townsville, as lots 1, 11, 18 to 21, 43 and 78 on AP22472, containing an area of about 276,600.19 hectares (resulting in a decrease of about 1,320.81 hectares).

Gulngay National Park

Rename an area of about 4,751.06 hectares of the existing Girramay National Park, described as lot 72 on AP22492 containing an area of about 4,751.06 hectares, and dedicate the area as Gulngay National Park, about 23 kilometres north of Cardwell.

Millstream Falls National Park

Dedicate lot 1 on SP282399, containing an area of about 7.2 hectares, as part of the existing Millstream Falls National Park and then redescribe the entirety of Millstream Falls National Park as lot 1 on AP22494, containing a new total area of about 362.7 hectares (resulting in an overall decrease of 6.22 hectares).

Paluma Range National Park

Add Paluma Range Resources Reserve, described as lot 1 on AP19230 containing an area of about 589 hectares, to Paluma Range National Park (containing a new total area of about 78,961 hectares). Paluma Range Resources reserve is cancelled in full.

Tewantin National Park

Revoke parts of Tewantin National Park described as lots 100 to 103 on SP172000, containing an area of 1.9184 hectares, and correct the previously erroneous area description for Tewantin National Park, resulting in a new total area of about 3,167.4055 hectares (an overall increase of 11.0816 hectares).

Abbot Bay Conservation Park

Change Abbott Bay Resources Reserve to Abbot Bay Conservation Park, described as lot 28 on plan SB653 containing an area of 151 hectares.

Girringun Conservation Park

Redescribe Girringun Conservation Park as lot 1 on AP22496, containing an area of about 6892 hectares (no change in area).

South Stradbroke Island Conservation Park

Dedicate lot 19 on plan WD1474, containing an area of about 49.928 hectares, as part of the existing South Stradbroke Island Conservation Park (resulting in a new total area of about 1,493.928 hectares).

Girringun Resources Reserve

Redescribe Girringun Resources Reserve as lots 1 to 3 on AP22497, containing an area of about 328 hectares (resulting in a decrease of about 7 hectares).

Kennedy Road Gravel Resources Reserve

Redescribe Kennedy Road Gravel Resources Reserve, containing an area of about 124.58 hectares, as lots 1 to 4 on AP22501 (resulting in an increase of about 0.58 hectares).

Moonstone Hill Resources Reserve

Declare an area of about 34.6 hectares as Johns Landing Nature Refuge, described as the part of lot 115 on SP173075, containing an area of about 34.6 hectares, shown on plan PA1062.
