    Consultation is now open on the Draft Traditional Knowledge Guideline: Using publicly accessible traditional knowledge for biodiscovery under the Biodiscovery Act 2004.

    The Traditional Knowledge Code of Practice requires biodiscovery entities, such as a research organisation or university, to only use traditional knowledge for biodiscovery under an agreement with the custodians of the knowledge.

    The Guidelines aim to assist biodiscovery entities meet the minimum requirements in the Code, where the custodians of the publicly accessible traditional knowledge cannot be located.

Accompanying the release of the draft management plan is a resource information document and a draft visitor strategy.

Before remaking the regulation, the Queensland Government must undertake a sunset review to evaluate its continuing need, effectiveness and efficiency. The Department of Environment and Science is completing a review and proposes to remake the regulation with amendments designed to improve clarity and reduce the regulatory burden on stakeholders.

    The Department of Environment and Science is undertaking an aerial baiting program on 6 October 2022.

    Sodium Fluoroacetate (1080) meat baits will be used to control feral pigs on Conway National Park (Lot 43 on NPW1144 and Lot 1 on NPW1145), Dryander National Park (Lot 24 on AP19346), Dryander State Forest (Lot 432 on AP19346) and Dryander Forest Reserve (Lot 5 on AP19346).

    Dogs and other domestic animals are not permitted within the protected areas. Steps must be taken to ensure domestic dogs do not gain access to the 1080 baits or poisoned animals. Neighbours should restrain dogs and other domestic animals during baiting programs.
