The Department of Environment and Science gives public notice pursuant to Section 173Q of the Nature Conservation Act 1992, and seeking views in consideration of the Human Rights Act 2019, including Aboriginal peoples’ and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural rights.

The Department of Environment and Science gives notice of the proposed amendments:

  • Revoke an area of about 376.9398 hectares from Ringtail State Forest (described as lots 9, 10 and 12 on AP22503) and part of lot 5 on AP22503 (to be described as lots 1-3 on AP23653), to be dedicated as additions to Tewantin National Park, about 14km north-west of Tewantin within the locality of Ringtail Creek and Pomona.
  • Revoke an area of about 287.13 hectares from Yurol State Forest (described as lot 2 on AP22502), and part of lot 1 on AP22502 (to be described as lot 1 on AP23654), to be dedicated as additions to Tewantin National Park, about 14km north-west of Tewantin within the locality of Pomona.
  • Revoke an area of 189 hectares from Castle Tower National Park (described as part of lot 167 on plan NPW817, and to be described as lot 2 on SP278327), about 39km south of Gladstone within the locality of Iveragh.
  • Revoke an area of 7.603 hectares from Mount Coolum National Park (described as part of lot 154 on plan NPW867, and to be described as lots 1 and 2 on SP305582), about 8km north of Maroochydore within the locality of Marcoola.

Comment regarding the proposed protected areas must be in writing and directed to tenureservices@des.qld.gov.au or the Department of Environment and Science, Tenure Services, PO Box 15187, City East, QLD, 4002.

Comments received by 4 May 2022 will be considered by the chief executive, Jamie Merrick, Director-General.

Amendments to the QPWS Estate Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 are administered by the Department of Environment and Science.
