Pollution event – Eagle Farm
Issued: 30 Nov 2021
The Department of Environment and Science (DES) is seeking public assistance following investigations into a pollution event at Eagle Farm.
On Saturday 27 November 2021, a member of the public reported seeing blue water and dead fish in a section of the waterway near Curtain Avenue in an industrial area at Eagle Farm.
DES Officers attended the scene and were confronted by the strong blue colouration of the waterway, which indicated a contaminant release. Officers also noticed a number of dead fish.
Water samples and fish samples were collected for analysis, and DES officers are working with the Brisbane City Council to further investigate the pollution event and the extent of environmental harm.
An inspection of the area on Monday showed the water in the section of the tidal creek had returned to its normal colour.
Anyone with information that may assist DES in its investigation into this pollution event is encouraged to call the Pollution Hotline on 1300 130 372.
