Changes to National Parks this weekend

Issued: 8 Jan 2021

Anyone planning on camping in or visiting National Parks in the greater Brisbane region this weekend should stay home following the latest COVID lockdown directive.

The regions affected are the local council areas of Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton and Redland.

While campers who are already in the camping spots can stay, no new campers will be permitted to travel into the parks.

Rangers are working hard to contact anyone affected today.

The lockdown will also mean Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre and Daisy Hill Koala Centre will both be closed until at least Tuesday.

People who live near a National Park will be able to use the park for exercise. However, everyone should follow the Chief Health Officer’s directions.

The changes will come into effect from 6pm tonight and reflects advice from the Queensland’s Chief Health Officer to ensure the health and safety of staff, visitors and the wider Queensland community.

People who have camp sites booked and can’t use them will be able to apply for a refund.
