Shark attack – North West Island

The Department of Environment and Science can confirm the tragic death of a Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) ranger following a shark attack off North West island yesterday evening.

The QPWS ranger was on North West Island with colleagues, to complete maintenance works as part of the QPWS essential works program.

Our deepest thoughts and condolences go out to the family, loved ones and friends of our dear colleague.

Support has been organised for all those impacted by this tragedy.

Queensland Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
