Moreton Island Protection Committee

Help visitors enjoy magnificent Mulgumpin (Moreton Island) and contribute to important conservation and regeneration projects.

When?
  • Year round
  • Monthly—generally Friday to Monday with a minimum of 2-day participation.

For?
  • Volunteer with partner organisation or other government department
  • Volunteers BYO food and are accommodated in a semi-permanent camp at Blue Lagoon or North Point.

This project involves:

  • Public contact, customer service, education or interpretation
  • Research and monitoring
  • Rubbish clean-up
  • Weeding and/or revegetation (including plant propagation)

Training will be provided.

A low to moderate level of fitness is required.

The Committee arranges ferry and island transport, and camping accommodation at discounted rates for volunteers. Volunteers and the Committee pay for transport costs. Registered volunteers are notified by email of all volunteer events.
