White Ribbon Australia Workplace Accreditation

Our department is working towards becoming a White Ribbon Australia (WRA) accredited workplace to further support employees affected by domestic and family violence (DFV).

The WRA Workplace Accreditation program recognises workplaces that promote respectful, safe and inclusive cultures by taking active steps to prevent and respond to violence.

As part of the accreditation, our department will:

  • challenge the attitudes and behaviours that allow violence to occur
  • enhance individual capability to recognise, prevent and respond to the issue of violence
  • improve or implement new practices and procedures
  • encourage individuals to take an active role in creating a positive and safe workplace.

Participation in events such as the Darkness to Daylight Challenge and White Ribbon Day, as well as partnering with women’s shelters, are just some of the many ways we are playing an active role in the community to address domestic and family violence.

We wish to thank all those who took part in our White Ribbon Day initiative – Coffee for a cause. Over $1,125 was raised which will support White Ribbon’s campaign for education initiatives in schools, workplaces and the broader community to stop men’s violence against women.

We are proud of the steps we are taking and believe we can play a part in eliminating domestic and family violence in Queensland.
