  • Notifications of pollution events and compliance issues can be made by emailing pollutionhotline@des.qld.gov.au during business hours or by phoning the pollution hotline 1300 130 372 (option 2) for significant pollution events and issues after hours.
  • Matters relating to the waste levy can be emailed to wastelevy@des.qld.gov.au.
  • Enquiries relating to licences for environmentally relevant activities including resource activities, contaminated land and compliance assessment can be emailed to palm@des.qld.gov.au.
  • Clients are encouraged to engage with the department in pre-lodgement discussions before lodging any applications by phone, email or other channels.

      A request for information or suggestion made to the department about its services, service delivery, products, decisions or actions. An enquiry is a question that requires a response from the department.
    • Compliment
      An expression of satisfaction made to the department about its services, service delivery, products, decisions or actions. Compliments do not usually require a response from the department but may be used to record feedback.
    • Complaint
      An expression of dissatisfaction made to the department about its services, service delivery, products, decisions or actions of the department or its staff that is not resolved at the point of service. Requires a response from the department in accordance with departmental policy.

    • Reporting Category 3 (C3) exposure to bats, including flying-foxes (C3 exposure occurs when a bat has bitten or scratched a person, or the person has had exposure to the bat's saliva or neural tissue)
      If you have been bitten or scratched, wash the wound gently but thoroughly with soap and water for at least five minutes. Do not scrub the wound. Apply an antiseptic and cover the wound. If bat saliva gets into eyes, nose or mouth, or into an open wound, flush thoroughly with water. Seek immediate medical advice from your doctor or local hospital. If a pet or livestock has been bitten or scratched by a bat, contact your local veterinarian.
