Case study: Mon Repos Turtle Centre

Energy Bundaberg–Burnett

One of Queensland’s most popular tourism destinations will run off almost entirely renewable energy, and create jobs as part of Queensland’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Plan.

The government is investing in 446 new solar panels and battery storage to power the Mon Repos Turtle Centre and conservation park.

The solar system will produce 170kW of solar power with 400kW of battery storage to cover 97% of the centre’s electricity consumption.

This investment is in addition to our work to transition ranger stations across Queensland off diesel power and to decarbonise our Great Barrier Reef Islands.
