Case study: State Heatwave Risk Assessment
The Queensland Government’s State Heatwave Risk Assessment 2019 features long-term climate change projections as part of its analysis of future climate risks in Queensland. The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services partnered with the Department of Environment and Science and Queensland Health to produce the assessment based on Queensland’s high resolution climate projection data. The assessment reveals that most Queensland regions are likely to experience more days over 35 degrees Celsius, with heatwaves that are more intense and last longer.
