Case study: Climate Mates
16 ‘Climate Mates’ are working to improve the use of weather and climate forecasts across the northern Australia grazing industry.
The ‘Climate Mates’ are a unique and successful part of the Northern Australia Climate Program (NACP) and have been chosen based on their knowledge of the grazing industry. They’re trained in general aspects of climate science and forecasting by NACP so they can be a local expert to help landholders.
The Northern Australia Climate Program is a partnership between the Queensland Government, Meat and Livestock Australia Donor Company, and the University of Southern Queensland, with extra on-ground support from the Northern Territory and Western Australian governments and Rangelands NRM.
